during the operations on the Upper
Nile (Medal, and Khedive's Star>.

Soudan Expedition in 1885 with the
Mounted Infantry, and was present in
ohe engagements at Hasheen, Temai,
and Takdoul (Medal with Clasp, and
Khedive's Star). Served in the cam-
paign on the North West Frontier of
India under Sir William Lockhart in
1897-98 with the Tirah Expeditionary-
Force with the 2nd Battalion York-
shire Regiment, and was present at
the capture of the Sampagha and
Arhanga Passes, the capture of Bagh,
the Dwatoi reconnaissance, the cross-
ing of the Kahu Darra, and the expe-
dition to the Bazar Valley (Medal with
two Clasps).
