RAMBLES ROUND GLASGOW CLUB.
The Club vras instituted in 1869, in order to bring
together such as are in the habit of taking, and to
arrange, walking excursions to places of interest in
the neighbourhood of Glasgow, An annual meeting
of the Club is held in the month of January to
appoint office-bearers, &c. Gentlemen desirous of
admission to the Club must be proposed and seconded
by two members. The business of the Club is trans-
acted by a council of five members. Alex. Martin,
senior rambler and convener 24 Hutcheson Street.

THE BOYS' BRIGADE.

The Object of the Brigade shall be the advance-
ment of Christ's Kingdom among Boys, and the pro-
motion of habits of reverence, discipline, self-respect,
and all that tends towards a true Christian manliness.
The Brigade was instituted in 1883, and is composed
of companies connected with churches, missions, and
other Christian organisations in various parts of
I England and Scotland.
the GLASGOW BATTALION OF THE BOYs' BRIGADE
is composed of all the Glasgow companies, the officers
of which constitute the Glasgow battalion council.
Glasgow battalion secretary, Wm. Nicholl, 58 Bath
Street. There are 25 companies in the Glasgow bat-
talion (March, 1885), with a membership of over
10 00 boys.

SCOTTISH BAND OF HOPE UNION.

The Union aims at training the youth of Scotland
to abstain from alcoholic drinks as beverages, through
the formation of Bands of Hope in connection with
the Churches or Sabbath Schools. There are now
502 Bands of Hope connected with the Union scat-
tered over all the counties in Scotland except three.
GLASGOW BLACK AND WHITE CLUB.

Instituted 29th October, 1878.
The aim of this club is to encourage the practice
of sketching from nature in black and white in all
its various branches. The business meetings of the
club, when candidates for membership may be elected,
are held on the last Saturday of each month from
