_A.TJCHTEE.TOOL is a small inland
parish and village, the latter situated 4
â– miles west from Kirkcaldy and about the
same distance north-west from Kinghorn,
-bounded on the east by Abbotshall, on the
south by Kinghorn and Aberdour, on the
â– north by Auchterderran and on the west by
Beath; extends from! east to west 5 miles
"by 2 in breadth.; small debt court of Kirk-
caldy. From a little lake called Camilla-
loch, in this parish, the river Teel takes its
rise ; on the verge of the loch are the ruins
of Camilla Castle, or " Hallyards." Aucher-
teel is said to have been the original name
of the parish, deriving the appellation from
its situation on the banks of the Teel. The
â– area comprises 2,738 acres; rateable value,
-£8,292; the population in 1801 was 721,
and in 1901, 742.

BALLINGRY is a parish on the border
of Kinross-shire, extending 3 miles from
north to south by 1£ broad; its kirktown is
2J miles north-west from Lochgelly, a small
portion of which town is in the parish ; it
is in the small debt court district of Kirk-
caldy, and is bounded on the north by Port-
nock (in Kinross-shire), east and south-east
by Auchterderran, south-west by Beath and
north-west by Kinross. The mining villages
of Lumphinans and Lochore are in the
parish. The nearest railway station is at
Lochgelly, on the Dunfermline and Thornton
Junction section of the North British rail-
way. The area comprises 4,621 acres; rate-
able value, £20,003; population in 1891
was 2,275, and in 1901, 4,156, of which 661
were in Lochgelly Police burgh and 2,071
in Lumphinans town. The population of
the ecclesiastical parish in 1901 was 1,250.
The population of Lochee in 1901 was 637.
