THIS is the oldest Proprietary Company in the kingdom, established for the transaction of Lifu
Insurance business only. Since its foundation in 1797 it has paid Claims by Death of Lives
Insured to the extent of over SEVEN MILLIONS Sterling.
SECURITY OFFERED TO INSURERS.
In addition to the Accumulated Funds, which amount to over Fourteen Years' Premium Income,
the liability of the Shareholders is unlimited. There is no clause in the Policies of the Company
limiting payment to the existing Funds or to the Uncalled Capital, and there is no clause rendering
Policies void by reason of any untrue, incorrect, or incomplete statement undesignedly made by the
Insured before, or at the time of, making the Insurance.
The Insured are not involved in any Partnership or other liahiiity ivhatevcr.
TONTINE POLICIES.
Policies payable in the Lifetime of the Insured are granted with Participation in Profits under
the Tontine Scheme.

that since its establishment it has paid more than FIFTEEN MILLIONS STERLING in discharge
of Claims for Losses by Fire.
Insurances with this Companj' expiring at the Terms of
CHRISTMAS, LADY-DAY, MIDSUMMER, and MICHAELMAS,
And at CANDLEMAS, WHITSUNDAY, LAMMAS, and MARTINMAS,
should be renewed within Fifteen Daj''S thereafter, otherwise they become void.
