preferments which he
might have easily obtained considering
his great Interest at Court that he eagerly Declined being
concerned in any thing out of the way of his own profession
and never once Made the King uneasie in any thing for
himself on his own Account. And as he Stood in high favour
with his Master. So it was observed that for all the
Intreag's
and Parties of the Court he was never once under a Cloud or a
froun. After this he thought fitt to Acquire the Estate of
the Barony of Dores in Scotland in the County of Kincardine
(which had been his great Grandfathers and his Ancestors
above 300 years) after it had been Sometime out of their
family And upon that his Majesty created him a Baronet of
Scotland by Letters patent bearing date1 the
2d of August
1673 and he Still continued in the most Uninterupted favour
with the King his Master of any man about the Court in his
time till his Death.

This noble fine Gentleman
Sir Alexander Fraser of Dores
Baronett married first (when he was a more private Character
than it that he afterward Shone) a Lady Sirnamed Dowchly
a Gentlemans Daughter near Bristoll who bore to him two Sons
and a Daughter Alexander Fraser Esqr his eldest who
was
Captain of a troop of Horse in his Majestys forces in
Ireland.
He married the only Daughter of Sir Robert Weirs and had
with her a fair Estate in that Kingdom near the City of
Dublin
but he died without any Surviving Issue. The Second Son
was Mr. Charles Fraser Esqr a Learned and Ingenious
gentleman
as any in his time. He translated Some of Plutarch's Lives
and was generally Supposed the Author of the Turkish Spy he
died Unmarried. Elizabeth the Daughter was married first to
Mr. Broomley brother to the Lord Broomley. He was Slain in
the Second Dutch war leaving no Issue. She was Lady of the
Bedchamber to the Late Queen of England at St. Germains
and Married to her Second husband James Graham
Esqr
(Privy purse to the Late King James the Seventh) brother to
Richart Lord Viscount of Preston and was Knight of the
Shyre
