SIR NORMAN was the third Son who was the first of the house
of Rothes I imagine he married Muriella de Pollock the heiress
of these Lands and daughter and heir of Petrus de Pollock
and had Sir George Lessly of Rothes who got the Lands of
Fechyll from Alexander Earl of Ross his Consanguinius and
Succeeded as heir Male and of Entail to Norman Lessly
and Lessly of that Ilk.

This SIR GEORGE Lessly of Rothes by his wife Neice of King
Robert the 3^d was the Daughter of Sir Thomas Hay of Erroll
by Elisabeth his wife Daughter to King Robert the 2^d. He
had a Son Sir Norman who Succeeded him and there is a
Dispensation for Norman Lessly Son to Sir George Lessly to
Marrie Cristian Seaton as being in the 4^th Degree of Con-
sanguinity by Pope Benedict the 13^th Anno 1416. Upon the
19^th May 1439 Normanus de Lessly Miles is Served heir to
his Cousin David de Lessly in the Barrony of Banbrigh lying
within the Shire of Fyfe bearing that the Said lands had been
in non entry Since the Death of the Said David the Space of
Two months or thereby So that in this David the principall
Branch of the family failing that this Norman Son of Sir
George Succeeded as heir of Talzie to him and So consequently
came to be the head of the family. This Norman Lessly of
Rothes by his wife Cristian Seaton aforesaid Daughter of Sir
William Seaton of that Ilk Had

GEORGE his Son and heir who Succeeded his father the Same
year 1439 betwixt the 19 of May and the 13 February 1439/40
That George Lessly is Served heir to his father Norman and
was first Created a Lord or Barron of Parliament to King
James the Second Lord Lessly in Leven as he is design'd and
afterward was by King James also created Earl of Rothes in
the year 1459. He had Andrew his Eldest Son by Cristian
Halyburton Daughter to Walter Halyburton of Dirleton who
dyed in the lifetime of his father but left Issue by Elizabeth
his wife daughter of William Earl of Orkney and Caithness
John his Eldest Son and heir Apparent Who in the lifetime
of his fathers father in the 1477 Married Janet Daughter of
William Earl of Marishall but died without Issue in the life-
