CHARTER 6th is a Confirmation of Charter 4th by King
William to ADA filius Odonis Senescaldi. Among the Wit-
nesses to this Charter are Comes Duncanus Justiciarius
Philippus de Valloniis Camerarius and Malcolmus filius Comitis
Duncani also Ricardus de Prebenda Clericus meus.

Ricardus de Prebenda one of the King's familiars was ex-
communicated by the Pope Anno 1180 upon account of the
Contest between King William and his Holiness as to the
Bishoprick of St. Andrews. (p. 327) and in Anno 1187 Richard
the King's Clerk was made Bishop of Murray (p. 330) pro-
bably this was the same person, and if so this Charter must
have been dated before the 1187.

CHARTER 2d in the Instrument is one granted by King
William to ODO Frater Matthei Ep̄i de Aberdeen of Kynninmon̄
cum tota Syra de Kynninmonth cum tofto in Burgo Sti Andreæ
sicut in Carta Prioris et Conventus Ecclesiæ Sancti Andreæ
Apostoli continetur. Among the Witnesses are Hugo Cancel-
larius meus Comes Duncanus, Malcolmus filius ejus. Of the
two last vide supra. As to Hugo Cancellarius observe, That
Hugo de Roksburgh the King's Clerk was made Chancellor
Anno 1188 (p. 330) when Roger son of Robert Earl of
Leicester former Chancellor was made Bishop of St. Andrews,
and this Hugo died Chancellor in 1199 (p. 293, 425) so that
this Charter behoved to bear date between 1188 and 1199.

CHARTER 1st in said Instrument is one granted by G. Prior
of St. Andrews and the Convent to ADAM filius Odonis
Senescaldi nri of Kinninmonth cum tota Syra, silicet tres
Magask Inchialk Ledochyn Incherech Ballechodyn and of a
Senescalcia in domo et terra nra. Among the Witnesses are
Ma Ep̄o Aberdonensis Johanne Epo Dunkeldensis et Comite
Duncano de Fyffe. Of the first and last Vide supra. Johannes
Laodoniæ Archid. was chosen Bishop of Dunkeld Anno 1211
