marcnis me ſa to do And tharfor leir thir twa lesso-
nis. The ane is, quhatſaeuir the haly spirit reuelis
and ſchawis to bs, other in the bukis of haly ſcrip-
ture, or in ye determinatiouns and diffintiouns of
general counſellis lawfully gadderit for the corro
boracion & maintenans of our fayth, we ſuld beleif
ye ſame to be ye trew word of God and thairto gyt
ferine credens as to the berite that is infallible.
The ſecund leſſon, ze that ar ſimple and bnleirnit
men & wemen ſuld expreſly beleif al the artickils of
zour Crede, as for al bthit hie miſtereis & matteris
of the ſcripture ze aucht to beleif generally as the
kirk of God beleifis. And this fayth is ſuffient to
zow, for the perfectioun of that faith quhilk ze ac
bund to haif, quharof we ſal ſpek mair largelie in
the expoſitioun of the Crede. The thrid principal
bertue is hoip, quharof it is writtin: Qui timetis
dominum ſperate in illu, & in oblectationem veniet
vobis miſericordia. Ze that feris our Lord, hoip in
him, and his mercy ſall cum to zows with pleſour.
Quhat is hoip: It is ane bertew quharhy we lip-
pin to get all gudnes fra God, mercy and grace in
this warld, and eternal blys in the warld to cum.
Of the firſt ſais the prophet in the Pſalme: Be-
maplacitum eſt domino ſuper timentes eum, et in
eis qui ſperant ſuper miſericordia eius.
Our Lord hais pleſour bpo yame yat fearis him,
and allwa bpon yame yat hoippis bpon his mcery.
And quhy ſuld we notht put all our traiſt and con-
sidens in the mercy of God, ſeand that he biddis us
sall bpon him in tyme of our nede, and pormiſſis to
