THE RESIGNATION

                     OF

LORD JOHN RUSSELL.

OH, dear what can the matter be,
The ministers over the nation will sca-
tered be,
The news says John Bull, all to pieces will
shatter me,
What made you give in Little John ;
I thought with the tories you nobly would
tustle,
And set them a rowing by making a bus-
tle,
Oh, crikey, oh dear, what a shame Jacky
Russell,
That you are compelled to resign.

Victoria declares while she is in her station
She will not receive Little John's resig
nation,
Old Arthur sung out in great aggravation,
What made you resign Little John ;
Lord Stanley rejoiced, and D'Israeli ca-
pered,
And said feed the poor on red herrings and
taters,
They shant have the taxes off windows
and papers,
Since we have nobly conquered Lord
John.

Shall Stanley and Winchelsea lead us, no
never,
They are sure to get licked, though they
think themselves clever,
Shout England huzza, give us Free Trade
for ever,
And keep in his place little John ;
We don't want the men who are fond of
Protection

If Lord John goes out there must be an
election,
The Lords and the Commons must have
an inspection,
Pray don't run away Little John,

Lord John has resigned, and the nation is
undone,
All the Popes in the world will be coming
to London,
And the Lords and the Commons will all
nearly mad run,
What made you resign Little John ;
What made you get licked Lord Johnny
so easy,
I know very well all your friends could
not please ye,
Since the day you first met they have done
nothing but tease ye,
And now they have made you resign.

From the House to the Palace it has
caused a bother,
Old women are tumbling one over another,
The Queen says it is with her, one thing
or t'other,
They must not discharge Little John ;
Her Majesty vows that she is not contented
And many ere long will have cause to
repent it,
Had she been in the house she would nobly
resent it,
And fought like a brick for Lord John.
