MEMORIAL

                     OF THE

VERY REV. CANON DOYLE, P. P.

Of the CATHEDRAL, Westland Row,

Who departed this life on Tuesday April 5th 81

Sleep on Father, heaven rest thee,
Happy be thy last repose ;
'Mid the friend, who loved and blessed thee,
Lite's brief struggle reached its close.
Thou who did'st relieve the weary
When all earthly hope grew dim ;
Cheere'd them through this life so dreary,
Bid them upwards look to Him.

Him with whom thou oft has pleaded,
For poor sinners here below—
Sought the mercies they so needed.
In its vale of death and woe.
Bid the poor to look to heaven,
Where their s s soon shall end,
Taught them, here they'd be forgiven,
Thou, their father and their friend

Never more wilt thou return,
To cheer the young to soothe the old;
Long thy absence they shall mourn,—
Faithful shepherd of the fold,
Many a home thy presence brightened,
When all hopes and friends were fled ;
Many a heart thy kind word lightened,
Happy made the dying bed,

Hark ! the death bells awful pealing,
Tells with each sad stroke our grief—
Tears may fall, but unavailing;
From the grave comes no relief.
Gone from earth and us for ever,
Lost to all both rich and poor ;
From the blest no more to sever,
On that bright eternal shore.
