A Merry New JOKE,
On Joſeph's Old Cloak.
THIS Cloak was cut our in old Oliver's Days
Fa, la, &c.
When Zeal and Religion were loſt in a Maz ;
Fa, la, &c.
'Twas made by an Elder of Lucifer's Club,
Fa, la, &c.
Who botch'd on a Shop-board, and whin'd in a Tub :
Fa, la, &c.
'Twas vampt cut of Patches, unſeemly to name,
Fa, la, &c.
'Twas hem'd with Sedition, and lin'd with the ſame :
Fa, la, &c.
This Cloak to no Party was yet ever true,
Fa, la, &c.
The Inſide was Black, and the Out-ſide was Blue :
Fa, la, &c.
'Twas ſmooth all without, and rough all within,
Fa, la, &c.
A Shew of Religion, a Mantle to Sin :
Fa, la, &c.
When Virtue was Raviſh'd, and Honeſty Baffled,
Fa, la, &c.
And Charles was led like a Lamb to the Scaffold :
Fa, la, &c.
When Treaſon was high, and Loyalty low,
Fa, la, &c.
This Cloak was a Screen to the Damnable Blow :

When nothing but Anarchy then was in Vogue,
Fa, la, &c.
And he was moſt Pious that moſt was a Rogue :

When Charles the Second retreated to France,
Fa, la, &c.
And Zeal and Religion were left in a Trance ;

The Gowns and the Caſſocks were broken to ſhreds,
Fa, la, &c.
And politick Cleaks ſet up in their ſteads :

This Cloak was as apt, as the reſt of the Cloaks,
Fa, la, &c.
To ſtifle Religion, and blindfold the Folks :

The Owner wou'd paſs for a Moſes or Aaron,

Tho' falſer than Judar, and fouler than Charan,
