      Staff of the Institute—Director.—Major E. Cotter. M.B., D.P.H.,
I.M.S., held charge of the Institute from 1st January 1931 to 31st
December 1931.

      Assistant Director.—Dr. G. Mackey, D.T.M., I.M.D., from 1st January
to May 5th and from July 5th to 31st December 1931.

      Public Analyst.—Mr. E. H. Bunce, F.I.C., F.C.S., from 1st January
to December 31st.

      Assistant Chemist.—Mr. G. C. Moitra, B.Sc., F.C.S., from 1st January
to December 31st.

      Malariologist.—Dr. E. S. Feegrade, D.T.M., I.M.D., K.I.H., from
1st January to 18th December 1931.

      Assistant Malariologist.—Dr. U Tin, D.T.M., from 1st January to December 31st.

      Assistant Bacteriotogist.—U Pa How, from 1st January to 31st December 1931.

      General.—Three classes were conducted in the Institute during the
year:—

            (1) The Rangoon University M.B. course in Hygiene.

            (2) The Government of Burma qualifying course for Public
Health Inspectors.

            (3) A Special course in Hygiene for post-graduate Sub-Assistant
Surgeons.

      Laboratory Work.—

      A. Bacteriological Section.—The following work was done
in the laboratories of this section during the year:—
