REPORT ON THE WORKING OF THE HARCOURT BUTLER

   INSTRUCTIONS.—The following courses of instructions were given
during the year:—

      (1) The Government of Burma Qualifying Course for Public
Health Inspectors.

      (2) The Government of Burma Licence in Hygiene Course for
Sub-Assistant Surgeons.

      (3) The Course of Training of Health Visitors.

   Lectures and demonstrations on Hygiene and Public Health were
given to the students of the following institutions:—

      (1) Medical College of the Rangoon University, and

      (2) Burma Government Medical School

   A short course of instruction on Hygiene and Public Health was
given to the Post-Graduate Sub-Assistant Surgeons from 1st July to
1st August 1938.

   A special training in anti-malaria measures was given, during the
year to two Sub-Assistant Surgeons who were transferred thereafter
to Sandoway and Lashio.

   SPECIAL DEMONSTRATIONS.—Representatives from various local
bodies who visited the Health Week, were given lectures and
demonstrations by the staff of this Institute on Malaria, Cholera, and
Plague, on allotted days at the Jubilee Hall.

   Thirty-four Anglo-Vernacular teachers who were at the Physical
Training Camp at Kokine during their educational tour in April and
May 1938, were given special demonstration of health exhibits and
the work clone at this Institute.

   The following lectures were given by the staff of the Institute at
the places shown against each:—

   EXAMINATIONS.—The following examinations were held during the
year at this Institute:—

      (1) Efficiency bar examination of U Tin Hla, Public Health
Inspector, Akyab.
