Presidency
Division.

      17. Presidency Division. - The
diseases from which admissions were
most frequent were malarial fever,
continued fever, diseases of the skin
and diarrhœa; whilst those leading to
unfavorable results were diseases of
the lungs, malarial fever, dysentery and
diarrhœa.

Southern
District.

      18. Southern District.- The princi-
pal causes of admission were malarial
fever, skin diseases, dysentery, diarrhœa,
and diseases of the lungs; the chief
causes of mortality being malarial fever,
diarrhœa, dysentery and diseases of the
lungs.

Saugor
Circle.

      19. Saugor Circle.- Among the
causes of admissions malarial fever
assumes a prominent position. The
admissions aggregated 48.21 per cent.
and the deaths.39 per cent. of strength.
Next in frequency to malarial fevers
come diseases of the eye, rheumatism
and skin diseases. The casualties were
due to malarial fevers, diseases of the
lungs, continued fevers and diarrhœa.

Mysore
Division.

      20.Mysore Division.- Malarial
fevers take the first place among the
causes of admission, as well as the first
place among the causes of mortality;
the other principal causes of admissions
and mortality were continued fevers,
dysentery and diseases of the eye on
the one hand, and diseases of the lungs,
dysentery, continued fever and rheuma-
tism on the other.
