       17.Punjaub .―The greater portion
of the admissions in the troops, sent at
the end of the year to join this force,
were due to malarial fever. There were
also 11 cases of eruptive fevers. Of the
7 deaths six resulted from ague and one
from dysentery.

       18. Bengal. ―Amongst the Madras
troops serving in Bengal territory the
prevailing diseases were malarial fevers,
rheumatism and skin diseases. The 13
deaths occurred under the heads of fevers
malarial, eruptive and continued, lung
diseases, diarrhœa and dysentery.

       19.Southern District. ― Malarial
fevers and skin diseases occupy the first
place as causes of admissions, and rheu-
matism and dysentery follow next in
order of frequency. Four deaths occur-
red from ague, lung diseases and
dysentery.

       20.Hyderabad Subsidiary Force.
Fevers were the chief causes of sickness,
and of the 2,078 admissions malarial
fever contributed over 71 per cent. Of
eruptive fevers there were 15 cases.
A good deal of sickness resulted from
rheumatism, skin diseases, dysentery and
lung affections. Eight deaths were due
to ague, 3 to diseases of the lungs, 2 to
diarrhœa and 1 each to rheumatism and
dysentery.

       21.Saugor Circle. ―Amongst the
causes of admissions malarial fevers as
usual hold a prominent position. Con-
tinued fever and skin diseases were also
prevalent. The casualties were due to
ague, lung diseases and diarrhœa.
