Location and
movements.

   V. Lines, &c. —Regarding the lines, drainage, conservancy, &c., there is nothing calling for
special notice.

Lines, &c.

VIII. Water-supply. —The water-supply was exactly the same as in 1875, with the exception
of the time the regiment was on the move and encamped at Delhi. During the march, the water
drawn from wells on the different encamping grounds appears to have been of good quality, and
that at Delhi was also good care having been taken to select wells, the water of which was pure.

Water-
supply.

IX. Diet. —No change has taken place under this head. The quality of the food sup-
plied on the march and at Delhi was good.

Diet.

   X. Clothing. —The usual clothing was worn while the regiment was at Barrackpore and
Alipore. On the march the men wore warm uniform; and also at Delhi, where the cold,
especially at night, was great.

Clothing

XI. Duty and employment. —The duty throughout the year was of the ordinary character.
At Delhi the duty was not severe, as there were no parades.

Duty and
employment.

13th November 1876, proceeding by rail to Cawnpore, and from thence by regular marches
to Delhi, where it remained, under canvas, from the 19th December to the 31st of the same
month. The regiment was encamped on open ground which had ben recently cultivated, and
formed part of the 2nd Infantry Division, Imperial Assemblage.

Marches and
service.
