       I HAVE the honour to submit in original the reports received through District
Officers, as per margin, up-
on. the lock-hospitals of
the Pegu division for the
year 1880.

       2. The delay which has occurred in the submission of this note is entirely
attributable to the late date on which the Thayet-myo report came to hand.
The Deputy Commissioner of Thayet-myo has been directed to submit a full
explanation of the causes which have contributed to delay his report so long after
the prescribed date.

       3. The following table shows in a convenient form the laws under which
each lock-hospital is managed, the extent of the protected area to which the
lock-hospital rules apply, statistics regarding the prostitutes affected by the hos-
pitals, and the cost of maintaining these institutions:—
