1—ALLAHABAD.
DURING the year 1883, a monthly average of 75 women remained on the register
at Allahabad.
For the four years 1880-83 the average numbers were 159, 137, 101 and 75.
The results of the management have been very satisfactory. For the 10 years,
1874-83, the ratios of admissions to hospital for venereal disease amongst the
European soldiers of the garrison have been, 290, 244, 177, 185, 354, 241, 215, 240,
158 and 130 per 1,000 of average daily strength.

accommodation, saying that it is considered sufficient, is in good repair, the enclosure
commodious.
As many as four Medical Officers have held the lock hospital charge at different
times of the year. Compared with the results for 1882, there has been a decrease of
disease amongst the soldiers during the year of report, and, there has also been a
