                                    INTRODUCTION

BOVINE theileriasis, as a condition distinct from redwater (Babesia bigemina
infection) of cattle, was first recognized in India in 1925, when Edwards reported
the occurrence in hill bulls of a species of protozoan parasite conforming with the
