Veterinary Graduate Sanc, Dharwar Dispensary. Inspected on the 1st November 1897 and found to be in
good order. During the year 2,041 cases were treated against 960 last year. The
large increase is due to the number of cases of Foot and Mouth disease which
appears to have been prevalent in the town and surrounding districts during the
year. In-patients 50 and out-patients 1,991. Out of the above number 134
were horses, 1,566 cattle, and the remainder sheep, goats, &c. The Veterinary

Veterinary Graduate Mainer, Nadind Dispensary. Inspected by me on the 18th November 1897 and found to be
in good order. The total number of cases treated amounted to 1,849 against 1,688
last year. Twenty-three in-patients and 1,826 out-patients. Out of the above
number, 248 were horses, 1,337 cattle and the remainder, goats, sheep, &c. The Veteri-
nary Graduate attended mild outbreaks of Foot and Mouth disease, and appears to
have been very successful in persuading the people to segregate their animals. In one

instance, the village authorities had carried out these measures before his arrival, and satisfactorily proves that
villagers are at last commencing to realize the value of segregation, and I have no doubt that in time no difficulty
will be experienced when it is necessary to adopt these measures. He made 68 visits to owners' houses, superintend-
ed the feeding, working, &c., of Government stallions, submitted the annual stud returns and acted for the Itinerat-
ing Veterinary Graduate, whilst he was on leave for one month and 25 days. The dispensary has been making
steady progress, and great credit is due to the Veterinary Graduate for his tact, and successful arrangement of the
people in dealing with epidemic diseases and the report, taken throughout, is most satisfactory.

Veterinary Graduate Vakharya, Surat Dispensary. Inspected on the 25th November 1897. The out
buildings were dirty and in an insanitary state, and considerable carelessness was
displayed by the Graduate in his work. It is to be regretted no progress has been
made to complete the negociations that were being carried on with a view to
purchase a site, and erect suitable buildings, which are urgently required. The
total number of cases treated amounted to 930 against 980 last year, which must
be considered satisfactory considering the prevalence of Bubonic Plague. Fifty-
nine in-patients and 921 out-patients. Out of the above number, 445 were horses, 394 were cattle, and the remainder
goats, dogs, &c. A mild outbreak of Foot and Mouth disease in the town was treated by the Graduate. He attended
Police horses and animals at the Government Farm, and paid 50 visits to owners' houses. Only 4 cases of castration
are reported. The report is satisfactory.
