Bad.

115.  It is regrettable that the branded mares were not of sufficiently superior stamp to be
classed good, but it is hopeful to be able to notice that the branded and 2-year old fillies, i.e.,
the future dams, do reach this standard.

116.  The mules being indifferent is a matter of surprise, as much breeding is done in this
district. It is to be feared that, as elsewhere, mule stock is sold to carriers very young, and
but few retained by the breeders.

117.  One head of young stock was purchased for Government for Rs. 280 and one Native
Cavalry remount for Rs. 250. It is to be feared that this district is still much in the hands
of the dealers, who buy up the most promising youngsters.

118.  No mules were purchased for Government. It is not known if any purchasing officer
attended.

119.  The Honourable the Military Member of Council inspected the mares and stock
during the show. The Inspector-General, Civil Veterinary Department, was also present.

120.  Rs. 550 allotted by Government was increased to Rs. 1,252 from District Funds
and subscriptions, the whole amount being awarded in prizes. In addition, a further sum of
Rs. 129 was expended in rewards to mare owners who had their animals branded in the
show.

Four bridles were also given to successful competitors.

Lahore Horse
Show.

121.  This show took place on the 25th and 26th March 1892.

122.  Six hundred and seventy-five horses were present against 640 last year, showing a
slight increase. Of these, 321 competed for prizes against 326 last year.
