                VI.—TOURING OF SUPERINTENDENTS.

Tours.

12. The return of tours (Table P.) shows that the Superintendents of
both Circles moved actively about and saw a large number
of districts. The horse dâk lines were also inspected by
them.

                            VII.—GENERAL.

Conclusion.

13. The cost of the Civil Veterinary Department to Provincial Funds
in the year under report was Rs. 17,989 against Rs. 18,794
in the previous year.

The question referred to in the last year's report regarding an increase
of the clerical staff has been settled (see letter No. 486, dated 25th July 1898,
from Government).

Veterinary-Lieutenants Trydell and Smith are entitled to credit for the
way in which they performed their duties during the year.

So also is Veterinary-Captain Gunn for his careful and detailed report on
the cattle of the Hoshiárpur, Gurdáspur, Siálkot and Gujrát districts.
