extension of service and the Imperial Service Order has been conferred
upon him for good service rendered. The old Indian Professors have continued
to do excellent work, and the younger teachers have made excellent progress
during the year and should prove valuable teachers. A heavy loss has been
sustained by the departure of Khan Sahib Ghulam Hussain Khan, House
Surgeon, on furlough, pending retirement, after a service of some 30 years. He
has been a faithful servant of Government, and I have found him a reliable
and loyal colleague during the many years we have served together. I much
regret that it has been necessary for him to sever his connection with the
institution.

The Translator Lala Prabhu Lal, has been exceedingly hard worked on the
text-book on contagious diseases. My best thanks are due to him, and to the
whole of the staff for their cordial co-operation in the work during the year.
We have received help from several officers of the Civil Veterinary and Re-
mount Departments, and to them also our best thanks are tendered.

during which period Mr. Quirke held the appointment of Superintendent,
Civil Veterinary Department, South Punjab.

2. Owing to the shortage of officers the Superintendent, North Punjab,
continued to supervise the work of the N.W.F. Province. The Superintend-
ents and the Deputy Superintendent toured in their respective circles, in-
spected hospitals, district board stallions and bulls and checked inoculation
work. The Chief Superintendent was unable to get round all the districts of
his circle as he had to make tours in Dera Ghazi Khan and Multan Districts
in connection with dourine, and had also to supervise work in other parts of
the Punjab. He inspected the Hissar Farm thrice and also the office of the
Superintendent, North Punjab. He also inspected stallion stables in the
selected districts of Lahore, Amritsar, Dera Ghazi Khan and Multan, and
examined at the Punjab Veterinary College.
