Services of horse, pony and donkey
stallions—Table XI.

27. The total number of horse, pony and donkey stallions employed at
stud during the year was 4, 57 and 71; they
covered 138, 2,784 and 3,876 mares respectively.
Last year 166, 3,237 and 3,942 mares were
covered by 4, 62 and 74 horse, pony and donkey
stallions respectively. The decrease in coverings during the year under report
is due to the larger number of mares purchased by the Army Remount
Department for Military purposes.

Feed and keep of stallions—Table XII.

28. The average cost of feed, keep, etc.,
of stallions during the year under report was as
follows :—

Rs. 406 per horse, Rs. 412 per pony and Rs. 223 per donkey.

These figures are supplied by District Boards.

Fairs and Shows—Tables XIII and XIV.

29. The statistical information regarding horse and cattle fairs and
shows is incorporated in Tables XIII and XIV.
Horse fairs were held in 4 districts and cattle
fairs in 19 districts.
