Annual Administration Report of the Civil
                    Veterinary Department in Ajmer-Merwara
                    (British Rajputana), for the year 1931-32.

                    I.—GENERAL ADMINISTRATION.

Mr. J. H. G. Jerrom, I.V.S., remained in charge of the Civil Veterinary
Department, Ajmer-Merwara (British Rajputana), throughout the year under
report. He inspected the dispensaries at Ajmer and Beawar and was on
tour for 9 days and travelled 1,036 miles by rail as against 6 days, and 1,098
miles by rail.

                     II.—TREATMENT OF DISEASE.

2. Table II.—Outbreaks of contagious disease were reported from Ajmer
and Merwara districts and were as under:—

                      (i) Bovine contagious disease.

3. Rinderpest.—In two outbreaks of rinderpest in Merwara district, 356
head of cattle were attacked and 80 died.

4. Foot-and-Mouth Disease.—In seven outbreaks in Ajmer district, 2,346
animals were attacked and 9 died.

5. Hæmorrhagic Septicamia.—In one outbreak in Ajmer district, 26
animals died out of 29 attacked.

          (ii) Contagious diseases among other animals.

6. Rabies.—Ten dogs were attacked and all died or were destroyed in
the Ajmer and Merwara districts.

7. Piroptasmosis.—Only one dog was attacked and died in the Ajmer
district.

8. Liver Fluke.—Twenty-five sheep and goats died out of 85 attacked in
an outbreak in Merwara district.

9. Distemper.—One dog died of distemper in Ajmer district.

                      (iii) Preventive inoculations.

10. No inoculations were performed against any disease this year.
