Annual Administration Report of the Civil
                   Veterinary Department, in Ajmer-Merwara
                   (British Rajputana), for the year 1932-33.

                            General Administration.

Mr. J. H. G. Jerrom, I.V.S., remained in charge of the Civil Veterinary
Department, Ajmer-Merwara (British Rajputana), throughout the year under
report. He inspected the dispensaries at Ajmer and Beawar and was on tour
for 9 days and travelled 838 miles by rail as against 9 days and 1,036 miles
by rail in the previous year.

                          II.—Treatment of disease.

2. Table II.—Outbreaks of contagious disease were reported from Ajmer
and Merwara districts and were as under:—

               (i) BOVINE CONTAGIOUS DESEASE.

3. Rinderpest.—There were 24 outbreaks in Ajmer and Merwara districts
with 1,849 attacks and 687 deaths.

     (ii) CONTAGIOUS DISEASE AMONG OTHER ANIMALS.

4. 46 cases of distemper in dogs were reported in Ajmer district and 15
died.

5. Rabies.—Nine animals were attacked in Ajmer and 2 in Merwara
districts and all died or were destroyed.

6. Piroplasmosis.—Two dogs were attacked in Ajmer district and one
died.

                  (iii) PREVENTIVE INOCULATIONS.

7. In 20 outbreaks of Rinderpest in Ajmer and Merwara districts, 1,927
head of cattle were protected with Anti-Rinderpest serum. 687 uninoculated
animals died during the course of the disease and no death occurred among
the inoculated ones.
