                                (iii) Other Animals.

45.     Tables VI-A and VI-B.—Compiled from information
obtained from the Director of Agriculture, Sind, are appended
to this report. Breeding operations of bovines and other animals
(excluding equines) is under the control of the Director of Agri-
culture, Sind.

                                (iv) Fairs and Shows.

46.    Horse Show, Table XII.—In the Jacobabad Horse Show,
178 horses competed and a sum of Rs. 1,140 and a sliver medal
were awarded in prizes as against 187 entries and Rs. 1,240 and
a sliver medal awarded in prizes in the preceding year. Rs. 500
in cash and a sliver medal were contributed by Government and
Rs. 500 by the Karachi Race and Riding Club, Limited.

47.    Cattle Shows, Table VII.—Cattle Shows were organised
by the Live-Stock Officer. Information relative to these shows,
supplied by the Director of Agriculture, Sind, is exhibited in Table
VII.

                        IV —Subordinate Establishment.

48.     Table X.—There were 1 Veterinary Inspector and 24
Veterinary Assistant Surgeons in sevice on 1st April 1940. During
the year two Veterinary Assistant Surgeons were appointed, the
Veterinary Inspector was promoted to provincial service and one
Veterinary Assistant Surgeon was appointed, as Veterinary Ins-
pector and one Veterinary Assistant Surgeon died leaving 24
Veterinary Assistant Surgeons and Veterinary Inspector at the
end of the year. Besides these, one Veterinary Assistant
Surgeon was employed by District Local Board, Thar Parkar.

49.    Of the 24 Subordinate Service Veterinary Assistant
Surgeons working on 31st March 1941, 23 were in charge of
dispensaries and 1 on reserve duty.

50.    Three posts of Reserve Veterinary Assistant Surgeons
and 2 of Itinerating Veterinary Assistant Surgeons were vacant
on 31st March 1941.

51.    The post of Veterinary Inspector was held by Mr. Abdul
Majid N. Siddiqi from 1st April 1940 to 6th March 1941 and by
Mr. M. W. Mirza from 7th to 31st March 1941. The Veterinary
Inspector was on tour for 91 days and travelled 3,747 miles by
