Below Annual Administration Report of the Civil Veterinary
Department, Sind, for the year 1942-43.

2. Mr. Bachan Singh, M.R.C.V.S., J.P., held the charge of the depart-
ment throughout the year.
3. The total mortality from contagious, infectious and parasitic diseases
was 7,377 as against 6,365 in the preceding year.
4. One Itinerating Veterinary Dispensary and two grant-in-aid
dispensaries were opened during the year thus bringing the total to 35 as
against 32 Veterinary Dispensaries working last year. 47,499 cases were"
treated at these dispensaries during the year as against 43,572 cases treated
during the previous year. 5,517 castrations were performed this year as
against 5,250 last year.
5. The Veterinary Assistant Surgeons and Veterinary Field Com-
pounders during the course of their tours treated 69,454 cases for contagious
and parasitic diseases, 7,918 cases for non-contagious diseases and castrated
3,318 animals in 2,831 villages during the year as against 70,448 cases for
contagious and parasitic diseases, 7,299 for non-contagious diseases treated
and 2,428 castrations performed in 2,635 villages during the year preceding.
6. The District Local Board, Upper Sind Frontier, held their Horse
Show at Jacobabad as usual and Government contributed Rs. 500 and a silver
medal The Karachi Race and Riding Club, Ltd., also contributed Rs. 500
in cash.
7. The total expenditure of the department during the year was
Rs. 1,83,262 as against Rs. 1,65,134 last year.
