33.     Other contagious, infectious and parasitic diseases.—One death from
Filariasis and 2 from Anthrax were reported during the year against one and
nil respectively last year.

                                                (e) Poultry.

34.     Ranikhet Disease, Fowl Cholera and Fowl-pox were reported from
Karachi, Larkana, Thar Parkar and Dadu districts. The total mortality being
74 out of 282 birds affected.

                          (iv) PREVWNTIVE INOCULATIONS.

35.     The Veterinary Laboratory continued to manufacture Goat Tissue
Virus and supplied the same to the District Veterinary Staff in carrying out
the vaccinations against Rinderpest on prophylactic and preventive scale with
a view to control the incidence of the disease which plays a great havoc in
cattle in view of their higher susceptibility.

36.     Table No. II.Rinderpest.—Notwithstanding the fact that there was
no incidence of Rinderpest recorded in the Province during the year under
report, 2,859 bovines were vaccinated with goat tissue virus as a prophylactic
measure without any mortality among the vaccinated ones against 4,681
vaccinations performed in actual outbreaks of the disease in 35 outbreaks
during the last year.

37.     Hæmorrhagic Septicæmia.—With the exception of only one out-
break in which vaccine and serum method was used in inoculating 185 bovines,
the serum alone method was employed in 50 outbreaks protecting 2,966
bovines with 400 deaths among uninoculated and 7 deaths among inoculated
ones. Last year serum alone method was used in 34 outbreaks and vaccine
alone in 2 outbreaks in which 3,284 animals by the former method and
104 animals by the latter method were protected against the disease with a
mortality of 398 in uninoculated and 8 in inoculated ones.

38.     Anthrax.—In 4 outbreaks 489 bovines were inoculated against
8 outbreaks in which 665 bovines and 452 goats were protected last year.
6 bovines died before inoculation was undertaken and none died among
inoculated ones as against 22 bovines and 165 goats which died before
inoculation and 1 bovine died from the inoculated ones last year.

39.     Contagious pleuro-pneumonia.—There were 30. outbreaks in which
7,303 goats were vaccinated with the locally prepared formalised lung tissue
vaccine. 396 animals died among the uninoculated ones and 52 vaccinated
ones. During the preceding year 6,450 goats were vaccinated in 52 outbreaks
and the number of goats which died uninoculated and inoculated being 864
and 74 respectively.

40.     Fowl-cholera.—69 birds were protected with Fowl-cholera serum in
one outbreak and 4 birds died before inoculation.

41.     Rabies.—Altogether in 19 outbreaks of the disease, 2 equines,
1 goat and 55 dogs were inoculated as prophylactic measure with anti-Rabic
vaccine. 1 bovine, 3 equines and 31 dogs succumbed to the disease before
inoculation. In an acute outbreak of Strangles, 276 equines were protected
with mixed streptoccoci vaccine alone method.
