Increase received during
the year.

92. The increase in the number of stallions
during the year has been as shown below :—

93. Two of these have been kept at Ahmednagar for the use of the remount
and outside mares. The third was sent to the 3rd Light Cavalry, Poona, to serve
the regimental and district mares. The stallion covered 12 mares during his
stay in the regiment. None of the breeders took advantage of the horse's
services while he was at Poona, and, as he was no longer required, I had him
removed to Sirur.

Decrease : Casualties.

94.    A reference to Appendix I will show that, during the year under
report, one stallion died from injuries received by
falling into a drain.

95.    The percentage of casualties during this and the previous year will be
found detailed below :—

Sales.

96. Three stallions were sold during the year as detailed in Appendix II.
One for impotence, another had developed ringbone,
and the third was suffering from partial paralysis of
the hind extremities.

97. At the close of the year under report the number and classes of horse
stallions remaining on the register was as follows :—

98. The classification of these stallions will be
found in Appendix III, a summary of which is given
below:—

99. This number includes the stallions serving in Beluchistán. The two
stallions shown as bad have been disposed of after the close of the year as they
were found to be impotent.
