Last year the number covered by the Beluchistan donkey stallion, viz, 4, was
included in the total coverings; otherwise the total coverings of the Bombay
Presidency were 842. No donkey mares were covered during previous years nor
in the year under report.

22. Sind is the only tract in the Presidency where mule-breeding is popular
and carried on to a very great extent. The following

stallions, and arrangements have been made to supply

From the beginning of February to the end of March 1894, five donkey
stallions accompanied the Inspectors on tour. The results were so successful
that I propose letting them tour throughout the next season on the same condi-
tions. Fifty-six mares were covered in the Deccan and Guiarát against 28 in
1892-93 and 1 in 1891-92.

Number of mules purchased.

23. During the year 8 mules were bought by the Commissariat Depart-
ment for transport purposes as against 151 last year
(vide Table X).
