Tours of the Special Assistant to the Superintendent,
                                        Mr. Buxy, G. B. V. C.

38. In all 2,660 miles were travelled by road and 12,497 miles by rail by
the Special Assistant to the Superintendent in connection with outbreaks of
cattle disease, chiefly in districts where no Veterinary Graduate or assistant was
employed, and in collecting information relating to cattle-breeding. The majority
of the outbreaks of cattle disease were found to be "black-quarter" which has
been very general in the Presidency. In his report Mr. Buxy states:—"My time
during the whole of the past year was a continual move in all directions with
very few and short breaks." In connection with cattle disease he visited the
following districts, viz., Khándesh, Násik, Nagar, Sholápur, Sátára, Belgaum,
Kánara, Ratnágiri, Kolába, Broach and the Panch Mahals. He toured in the
districts of Nagar, Thána and Sholápur to collect information relating to
cattle-breeding, etc. He also attended the annual cattle fair at Mahsa, Thána
District, the Government stallion at Sholápur three times, and collected material
for despatch to the Imperial Bacteriologist at Muktesar. Mr. Buxy has done
good work for the Civil Veterinary Department during the year.
