ANNUAL ADMINISTRATION REPORT (PROVINCIAL) OF THE CIVIL
        VETERINARY DEPARTMENT, IN SIND, FOR THE OFFICIAL
                                            YEAR 1904-1905.

I have been in charge of the office of Sind since 1st May 1904. The dis-
trict was, however, not under my charge and as I received no instructions, I was
of course unable to make any tour in any case, with the lectures, &c., in the Veteri-
nary School to be done, touring in Sind would have been impossible.

                            I.—VETERINARY INSTRUCTION.

                                                        Nil.

                            II.—TREATMENT OF DISEASES.

(1) Contagious diseases, Outbreaks, Mortality, Preventive Inoculation,
&c.
—During the year under report the following principal contagious diseases
were reported :—

Anthrax, Pleuro Pneumonia, Glanders, Surra, Rabies, Lymphangitis,
Hæmorrhagic Septicæmia.

In each case they were dealt with by the Veterinary Graduate of the Dis-
trict in which they occurred.

Anthrax broke out in Karachi, Nausháhro and Shikárpur Districts.

Out of 60 goats which were subjected to anti-anthrax preventive serum
inoculation only one died after inoculation.

Pleuro Pneumonia occurred in the Karáchi District and 155 goats died of
this disease.

Glanders broke out in Karáchi, 162 horses were subjected to the mallein
test, out of which 6 horses, which proved to be confirmed ca3es of Glanders,
were destroyed and their carcasses cremated.

Twenty-four cases of Rabies were reported during the year under report.

There was only one case of Surra reported from Karáchi during the year
under report.

One case of Lymphangitis was reported from Karachi during the year.

Forty-eight cattle died of Hæmorrhagic Septicæmia in Nausháhro Sub-
Division of Hyderabad (Sind).

This disease seems to be very prevalent in some parts and I am anxious to
make some investigations when I get an opportunity.
