one has obtained employment in the Madras Presidency, four have been
employed by the Mysore State and one by the Kolhapur State (all the latter five
having been State Scholars); two have been practising privately, one, a Bengali,
is likely to obtain an appointment in Eastern Bengal, one is employed in a
firm of Veterinary Surgeons, and five remain unemployed.

Four Graduates of 1907 were employed in the Subordinate Civil Veterinary
Department of the Bombay Presidency. One Graduate of 1903 and two
Graduates of 1907 obtained appointments as Veterinary Inspectors in the
Nizam's Dominions on a salary of Halli Sicca Rs. 100—10—150. These appoint-
ments have been newly created. An appointment of Veterinary Inspector
created in the Imperial Bacteriological Laboratory at Muktesar has been given
to a Graduate of this College who was serving in the Khairpur State, a Graduate
of 1906 having succeeded him in the latter appointment. A Graduate of 1906
serving in the Idar State obtained an appointment as Veterinary Inspector
at Singapore on a salary of £140 per annum, with a travelling allowance of
£21 per annum, a Graduate of 1907 having succeeded him in the latter
appointment. A Graduate of 1907 obtained an appointment of Second
Veterinary Inspector, Province of Wellesley, on a salary of $960 rising to
$1,440 per annum, with a pony allowance and free quarters. The Senior
Medical Officer, Selangor, asked for the services of a Graduate for employment
as Veterinary Inspector on a salary of £130 rising to £200 per annum, A
Graduate of 1908 has been recommended for this appointment. The Society
for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, Bombay, has created an appointment
of an Inspector which has been given to a Graduate of this College.

The Superintendent, Civil Veterinary Department, Central Provinces and
Berar, enquired as to the number of Graduates that could be available for
employment under him on a salary of Rs. 35 rising to Rs. 60 in 15 years. The
Superintendent, Civil Veterinary Department, Sind, Baluchistán and Rájputána,
also asked for the services of a Graduate for filling up the appointment of a
Veterinary Assistant at Halla in Sind on a salary of Rs. 40 rising to Rs. 100.
These appointments were offered to Graduates who were in want of employment,
but none of them have been willing to accept them on the terms mentioned.

Four students of this College volunteered for active service in the Quetta
Transport Division in case of war and mobilization.

                                EXTRA DUTIES.

8. The following extra duties were performed, viz. :—

(a) Control of the Glanders and Farcy Department in Bombay and
Bándra.

(b) Examining and diagnosing specimens for the Civil Veterinary
Department of the Bombay Presidency.

(c) Advising the Commissioner of Police regarding the purchase and
casting of remounts.

(d) Conducting the examinations in Veterinary Science at the Exa-
minations in Agriculture of the Bombay University.

(e) The training of 17 Bullock Drivers belonging to the Supply and
Transport Corps as dressers by the Native Teaching Staff.

    Proposed Contagious Disease Ward, Dissection and
                        Post-Mortem Rooms.

9. General plans and a rough estimate of cost for building a Contagious
Disease Ward and Dissection and Post-Mortem Booms have been drawn after
consulting the plans and estimates of similar buildings at the Lahore and
Calcutta Veterinary Colleges and so as to meet the wishes of the Society for the
Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. The plans and estimates have been
submitted to Government.
