Mr. P. Miranda retired from service from the 18th of June and
Mr. J. P. Damri was appointed in his place. Mr. M. Mohey Deen
returned from leave on 7th of August 1931 and continued to hold
his appointment till the end of the year. Mr. K. B. Nair who had
been to Edinburgh for the Post-Graduate course returned to India
and resumed his duty in June 1931 and continued to perform it till
the end of the year. Mr. A. H. Khan held his appointment
throughout the year.

4.The Students.—There were 137 students' names on the rolls
on the 1st of April 1931. (The Annual Professional Examinations
were held in April). Of these 137 students, 133 appeared for the
examinations and 86 passed successfully. Of the successful
students 20 having passed the final examination left the college;
32 were promoted to class C from class B and 34 were promoted to
class B from class A. In addition to the above, one student from
class C, two from class B and one from class A were eligible and
appeared for the Supplementary examination held in October, and
all passed. The one from class C having qualified, left the College,
the two from class B were promoted to class C and the one from
class A was promoted to class B. Twenty-three students disconti-
nued the course, 19 having failed and 4 not being allowed to sit for
the examination under college rule 51.

5.In June 1931, 27 new students were admitted to class A.
There were thus 121 students on the rolls at the commencement of
the First Session.

6.Of the 27 new students admitted, 12 were Natives of the
Bombay Presidency, 2 of Rajputana, 2 of Cochin, 1 of Travancore,
6 of Mysore, 2 of Central India, 1 of H. E. H. the Nizam's Domi-
nion and 1 of Ceylon. Of the new students, 1 had passed the Inter
Arts, 1 Inter Science, 2 First Year Arts and 23 the Matriculation or
S. L. C. Examinations. The new students classified according to
caste were 15 Brahmins, 1 Maratha, 1 Lingayat, 2 Rajputs, 6 Other
Hindus, 1 Muhammadan and 1 Singhalese.

7.The results of the Annual and Supplementary examinations
held during the year were as follows :—

In the Final year or class C, 28 students appeared and 21
passed. In class B, 54 appeared and 34 passed and in class A,
55 appeared and 35 passed. The percentages therefore this year
for the three classes were 75.00; 62.96 and 63.63 respectively as,
against 73.07; 71.87 and 67.69 last year and on the total 65.69 as
against 69.91 last year.

8.Of the 121 students on the rolls at the commencement of the
1st Session (June) 2 students discontinued the course on account of
ill health, 2 on account of family circumstances and 1 left the college
having passed the Supplementary examination. There were thus
116 students' names on the rolls at the end of the year as against
121 at the commencement.
