whom the Veterinary Dispensaries are maintained, shall also be treated
free of charge, if brought to the Dispensary during working hours.

125. The destroying of animals does not form a part of the legitimate
duties of the Veterinary Department and is not permitted within the
Dispensary premises except with the previous orders of the Superintendent.
But there is no objection to a Veterinary Assistant undertaking the work
as a private arrangement, and charging a fee, not exceeding Rs. 6, for
destroying a large animal and Rs. 3 for a small animal. These charges do
not include the cost of removing or burying the carcase, which should be
arranged for by the owner.

126. The hours during which a Veterinary Dispensary shall be open
for the treatment of patients areā€”from the 1st March to 31st October, 6 to
10 A. M. and 5 to 6 P. M.; from 1st November to end of February, 7 to
11 A. M. and 4 to 5 P. M.

The above working hours are subject to alteration under the orders of
Local Bodies to suit local conditions.

Cases requiring immediate attention will be treated at any time.

127. The scale of fees in operation at the Nagpur and Pachmarhi
Dispensaries is given in Appendix A, which also contains a standard scale
of fees applicable (with such variations as local authorities may be permitted
to impose) to the towns of Jubbulpore, Saugor, Wardha, Raipur, Amraoti
and Akola.

128. Prescriptions by persons other than legally qualified Veterinary
Practitioners shall not be dispensed.

129. Bills on account of recovery of Dispensary fees shall be pre-
pared by the Veterinary Assistant in charge, on the 1st and 15th of every
month, for the treatment of animals which have been discharged as cured,
or which have discontinued attending the Dispensary. The bills shall be
delivered by the Dispensary peon to the persons to whom they are addressed,
and, when payment is made, their signature obtained in the Bill
Despatch Book.

130. The Veterinary Assistant should see that the bills are duly
delivered, or that an explanation for non-delivery is furnished, and that
the amounts entered as paid in the Bill Despatch Book are correctly handed
over to him daily by the peon. A personal or cash security of Rs. 25
must be furnished by the peon who collects the Dispensary fees.

131. The Veterinary Assistant shall prepare and submit to the Local
Body or to the Superintendent, Civil Veterinary Department, as the case
may be, in the first week of the month following each quarter, a list
showing the name and amount due by each person who has not paid his
dues for three months and over.
