RULES FOR THE TRAINING, EXAMINATION AND EMPLOYMENT OF
          COMPOUNDERS OF VETERINARY DISPENSARIES.

132. A candidate for training as Veterinary Compounder must possess
the following qualifications:—

(1)  He must be at least 17 years of age.

(2)  He must be of active habits and good physique.

(3)  He must have passed at least the Upper Primary Examination,
be able to read and write fluently the Hindi language, if
desirous to be employed in the Central Provinces only, and
the Marathi language, if in Berar; and must have sufficient
knowledge of English to read intelligently and to write
correctly from dictation a simple passage of English.

(4)  He must be of a respectable family, certified to by two certifi-
cates from gentlemen of standing who are personally
acquainted with the candidate.

133. Applications for permission to enter the Training Class for
Compounders shall be addressed to the Superintendent, Civil Veterinary
Department, and shall contain the following particulars:—

Name, father's name, father's occupation, caste, age, details of
educational examinations passed, with date of passing verna-
cular language.

134. The application must be accompanied by the two certificates,
required by Rule 1 (4). The Superintendent shall not ordinarily admit
more than three candidates to each class.

135.  Each candidate accepted for training must sign an agreement
that on completion of his training he will serve for at least two years
as Compounder in any Veterinary Dispensary to which he may be appointed.
He will be liable to serve in any District of the Central Provinces or Berar,
as the case may be, throughout his service.

136.  Candidates who are accepted as probationers must go through a
course of training at the Nagpur Veterinary Dispensary. Half-yearly
examinations will be held, and if the probationer is successful, he will
receive a certificate giving him a preferential claim to employment in any
vacancy of Compounder in any Veterinary Dispensary of the Central
Provinces or Berar, as the case may be. Any candidate failing to pass the
examination at the end of one year will be considered unfitted for further
training, and his services will be dispensed with.

137.  During the period of training each candidate will receive a
subsistence allowance of Rs. 10 a month.
