6. Work of the hospital.—There has been an increase in the work of the hospital
during the year of nearly 300 cases and an increase of 129 in the number of opera-
tions. This practice has given abundant opportunity for the students to gain
practical experience. The figures showing the number of cases treated are as

During the year two outbreaks of anthrax occurred amongst the municipal cattle.
The preventive measures as taken on previous occasions successfully checked these
outbreaks.

During the year under report the College staff have undertaken the examination
of and the report on the slides sent up by Superintendent, Civil Veterinary Depart-
ment and veterinary assistants. This work has now grown to a considerable magni-
tude as during the year 399 slides were received and dealt with.
