I have the honour to forward herewith the annual report of the executive branch
of the Civil Veterinary Department for the official year ending 31st March 1914. A
specimen map to be appended to the report was sent to the Board for favour of ap-
proval on 15th June 1914 and has not yet been received. On receipt it will be
printed and submitted to the Board.

                                                   DEPARTMENT, MADRAS.

                                           I.—GENERAL ADMINISTRATION.

Mr. Ware held charge of the office of Superintendent throughout the year.

He spent 151 days on tour, travelled 9,055 miles by rail and 600 miles by road.

During the year he inspected all the hospitals and dispensaries in the Presidency—
except the Zamindar's hospital at Sivagiri—the Cattle Quarantine depot at Tuticorin,
the work of the Special Veterinary Inspector with the Forest department, the three
Government stallions and bulls Nos. 3, 5, 12 and 20. In addition he visited
Madanapalle, Mangalore and Salem in connection with the selection of sites for the
