24. Examinations.—The annual and diploma examinations were
conducted by a Board of Examiners consisting of eight members. The
results of the examinations for the years 1939-40 and 1940-41 are as
follows :—

Ten students obtained distinction at the Diploma Examination, two
in Soundness and Ageing of horses, five in Veterinary Medicine, two in
Meat and Milk inspection and one in Pathology and Bacteriology. The
results were satisfactory in the opinion of the Board.

25.   Tutorial Classes.—Tutorial Classes were continued for the purpose
of recreation, scientific and literary pursuits.

26.   Refresher Class.—No refresher class was held during the
session.

27.   Buildings and Roads.—No new work was done.

28.  Water and Electric supply.—The supply was regular.

29.   Hostel.—Owing to inadequate accommodation in the main as well
as the post-graduate hostels the vacant staff quarters were again utilised as
temporary students' hostels. The total number of seats thus available was
120; the rest, 19 students were day scholars. Owing to lack of
suitable houses in the vicinity of the college it has become very necessary
to provide extra accommodation in the hostel.

The health and conduct of the boarders were satisfactory.

The annual Saraswati Puja and the Meelad Sharif were celebrated by
the students as usual with enthusiasm and students of all communities
participated alike in the function.

Dr. A. C Chaudhury, Professor of Hygiene, was appointed Warden
of the Hostels and the Assistant Surgeon, Gardanibagh Dispensary,
continued to be the attending physician of the boarders.

Sports.—Babu J. N. Mukherji remained in charge of the sports
section till 8th November 1940, and Mr. P. S. Sahi, Professor of Surgery
and Obstetrics, for the rest of the year. A set each of horizontal bars and
parallel bars was added to the equipments. Hockey, football, cricket,
volley ball and tennis matches were played with various local clubs. The
annual sports of the college were a success and Mr. E. E. Russell, C.I.E.,
