Officiating Veterinary Research Officer, held charge of the Research
Laboratory for the remaining part of the year. Mr. Bhattacharjee
officiated as Veterinary Research Officer up to the 24th March 1937,
when he took over charge of the control of the Veterinary Research
Laboratory from Mr. Pfaff.

Mr. M. H. V. Brown, B.V.Sc. (Pretoria), Temporary Research
Officer, carried out duties in the Research Section throughout the year.

During the year under report the Veterinary Research Officers were
assisted in their work by four Veterinary Assistants and one clerk.

Veterinary College, Insein.—Mr. G. Pfaff, B.Sc., M.R.C.V.S., remained
in charge of the College in addition to his own duties as Research
Officer up to the 24th March 1937, when he made over charge of the
duties to Mr. J. Bhattacharjee, B.Sc., F.C.S., M.R.C.V.S., prior to
proceeding on leave. The latter remained in charge of the College for
the rest of the year. Mr. Brown, Temporary Research Officer, assisted
in giving Veterinary Instruction to students and at Examinations.

The Principal, Veterinary College, had under him one Assistant
Principal, one Veterinary Inspector, a Veterinary Assistant and one
Clerk.

            NEW APPOINTMENT AND PROMOTIONS.

U Tun Aung, B.A., G.V.Sc., Veterinary Inspector attached to the
Veterinary Research Laboratory, was promoted to officiate as Assistant
Principal, Veterinary College, Insein, with effect from the 1st May 1936,
in place of U San Hla, Assistant Principal, Veterinary College, Insein,
who proceeded on leave preparatory to retirement.

Eleven Veterinary students who completed the Veterinary Assistant's
Course satisfactorily at the Veterinary College, Insein, during 1935-36,
were appointed as Veterinary Assistants (New Grade) during the year
and were posted to various townships in the Province.

           VACANCIES IN THE DEPARTMENT.

(a)  Burma Veterinary Service, Class I —Of the sanctioned cadre of
six posts, none remained vacant during the year. The temporary
appointment of a Veterinary Research Officer was made at the
beginning of the year against a post in this cadre.

(b)  Burma Veterinary Service, Class II.—Of the sanctioned cadre
of eight posts, none remained vacant during the year.

(c)  Burma Subordinate Veterinary Service.—(i) The revised cadre
of Veterinary Inspectors is 39, out of which 16 posts remained vacant
during the year.

(ii) In the revised sanctioned cadre of 166 Veterinary Assistants,
16 posts remained vacant.
