                                            FOR THE YEAR 1924-25.

                    GENERAL ADMINISTRATION,

1.  The posts of Director and Veterinary Adviser to Govern-
ment as well as Deputy Director of the Central Range were in my
charge throughout the year. Capt. P. B. Riley directed the North
Bihar Range up to the 23th March, 1925, from which date he
proceeded on eight months' leave. Capt. G. G. Howard acted
as Deputy Director of the Orissa Range till 22nd March, and
then took over charge of the North Bihar Range, being relieved
at Cuttack by Assistant Director, Rai Sahib P. N. Das.

2.  The following hospitals and dispensaries were inspected
during the course of the ordinary tours :—

Patna, Dinapur, Gaya, Aurangahad, Arrah, Buxar, Sasaram,
Bhahua, Barahpur, Monghyr, Bhagalpur and Pakaur in the
Central Range; Chapra, Muzaffarpur, Laheriasarai and Motihari
in North Bihar Range; and Cuttack, Balasore, Puri, Angul,
Chaibassa, Jamshedpur and Ranchi in the Orissa Range. In
connection with investigations into filariasis at Puri, a visit was
paid to the School of Tropical Medicine at Calcutta. The herds
at Sipaya, Bettiah and Pusa farms were inspected. In November
and December a prolonged tour was made through the grazing
areas on the Rhotas plateau and the Shahabad district. I acted
as president of the board of examiners at the Bengal Veterinary
College ; and also, with Captains Riley and Howard conducted
the promotion examinations of veterinary assistant surgeons
at Patna.

3.  In March 1925, I was appointed to be a member of
a committee, convened by Government to make enquiries into
questions atfecting cattle breeding in this province. It had only
just commenced hearing evidence when the year closed.

I was on tour for 197 days.
