and post-graduate hostels and Darwan's goomti, as well as the
laying out of a garden and planting of shrubs in the college
compound which were undertaken later, could not be finished
within the year. These are now in progress. Messrs. Mansfield
and Son, Calcutta, also completed the work of fitting, erection of
gas plant and connections for internal water-supply according
to the terms of their contract. The main work that remained to
be done was that of water-supply, sanitation and drainage and
electric installations to the buildings ; of these, the electric instal-
lations were also completed within the year but as regards
water-supply and sanitation, the work was delayed due to the
late arrival of certain machinery. The whole work, including
laying of distribution mains, internal pipings and fittings, pump
chamber, water tower and staff quarters, has now been completed
while all drains including gulley pits being constructed, sewers
laid, the pumping station completed and the pumping plant
installed it is expected that the sewerage system will be in
operation as soon as the connection with the electric main is
completed by the electrical department.
