                             LABORATORIES.

87. The laboratory and the serum depot attached to the Cen-
tral Range office together with the laboratory assistants and
attendant were transferred to the Bihar and Orissa Veterinary
College, Patna, with effect from the 13th June 1930. Since then
materials for bacteriological and other examinations from the
Central Range are being sent to the College instead of to the
Range office.

88. Altogether 7,603 specimens including blood smears, pus,
fæces, urine, skin scrapings, etc., were received and examined in
the range and college laboratories during the year as compared
with 6,163 in the year 1929-30. In addition, 149 pathological
specimens of tumours, internal and external parasites and other
materials were also examined for purposes of preservation in the
college museum.

89. Out of 7,603 specimens examined, 906 cases were
diagnosed. Details of the work according to ranges are shown
below :—
