Commences about the middle of April and lasts for 15 days.
It is the anniversary of the death of fakir, Naik Murad
and is sometimes called Purer mela.

2. Alowa Khowa at Balia,
in the jurisdiction of
outpost Atwari.

33,000 cattle, 9,000 buffaloes, 2,300
horses, 150 elephants, and 20
camels.

Commences about the beginning of November on the
occasion of the Rashjatra ceremony, and lasts for 15 days.

3. Dhaldighi, held on the
bank of a big tank of
that name at Gunga-
rampur.

Cattle 10,000, horses 250, camels
200, and sheep 100.

Commences about the beginning of February, and is held
in honour of a fakir who used to reside on the side of the
tank.

for 15 days.
