What is the total land area of the subdivision (cultivated, grazing, and
storile, separately, if practicable) ?

The total land area of the Tamluk subdivision is 390,400 acres, of which
279?600 acres are cultivated. There are little sterile lands in the sub-
division. Grazing lands are abundant, especially by the side of the
Rupnarain river.

Is any land available on a Government estate or otherwise, and if so, on
what estate, which is suited for cattle breeding?

There is land available on the Government estate char Nakchira, in the
mouth of the Haldi river, which is suited for cattle-breeding.

How are cattle fed, whether stall-fed or grated, or both ; and whether
any grain, &c., is allowed ?

Generally the cattle are grazed. Good cows and bullocks are both stall-fed
and grazed. Faddy or rice is allowed to such bullocks and cows. Oil-
cake is also allowed.

Grazing is plentiful in greater part of this subdivision.

Generally there is no scarcity of drinking water for cattle, but in char-
lands and tracts bordering the Rupnarain river some difficulty is ex-
perienced from April to June, when the river water becomes brackish.

is allowed to the calves.

Generally the calves are weaned when they are one year old. After
