What is the total land area of the subdivision (cultivated, grazing, and

476,160 acres, of which 264,000 acres are cultivated and 212.160 uncultivated.

Government estates in the subdivision are rather small. No sufficient land
in them suited for cattle breeding.

Cattle are, generally speaking, grazed and not stall-fed.

Grazing is plentiful in the southern and oastorn parts of the subdivision
where there are kund lands, scarce in the other parts of the subdivision
which are densely populated and where there are very little of waste lands.

During the months of February, March and April, scarcity of drinking
water for cattle is felt.

During the rains cattle are sheltered in cowsheds. They are not sheltered

Calves have half the cows' milk; all to themselves for 21 days after colving;
after that cows are milked by men for human consumption of the milk
and very little is left for the calves, which take to grazing when about a
month old.

weaning.

diction of Bajidpur thana, especially Barisal outpost. Average price of
bullocks so imported is Its. 50 and cows, Rs. 40.
