What is the total land area of the subdivision (cultivated, grazing, and
storile, separately, if practicable ?

Area 2,509.440, acres, area available for cultivation 39,500 acres, cultiva-
ble wasto other than fallows 750,500 acres, not area cropped during
the year 1.729,200.

Is any land available on a Government estate or otherwise ; and if so,
on what estate, which is suited for cattle-breeding ?

There are certain lands outside the Monghyr Fort belonging to Govern-
ment suitable for grazing.

How are cattle fed, whether stall-fed or grazed, or both ; and whether
any grain, &c., is allowed ?

Both stall-fed and grazed, grain (gram, urid, masurs, &c.), and mahua
are given to some kine kept by well-off gentlemen.

Not plentiful. For scarcity of grazing, cattle are sent to pargana Pharkia
in the sadar subdivision for nearly four months (from March to June)

every year.
Yes. There is the river Ganges, and the cattle which are in town drink
its water. Those out of the town are generally allowed water drawn
from wells.

Nearly 3 per cent. and is sufficient.

For 25 days after calving all the milk is allowed to the calves. After
that period nearly ¼th of milk is given.

At the age of three to four months. After weaning, calves are fed with
