The Board of Examiners' report is as follows:—

"The results are not so satisfactory as in previous years. The cause
may be traced to the interruption which occurred in the classes, but it is also
evident that the teaching staff requires strengthening and we would impress
on Government the urgent necessity of the appointment of at least two more
Imperial Officers, otherwise the standard of teaching in the Bengal Veterinary
College will drop behind that to which the students are taught in other Indian
Veterinary Colleges."

11. Out of 127 students remaining at the end of the session. 113 held

12.     Prizes.—The distribution of prizes was held on 24th March under
the presidency of the Hon'ble Nawab Saiyid Nawab Ali Chaudhuri, Khan
Bahadur, C.I.E., Minister, Government of Bengal. Diplomas, certificates and
prizes in the shape of medals, surgical instruments, books and monies were
given.

13.     Hostels.—All students lived in the hostels and their general health
was good. The Medical Officer attended regularly.

14.     Riding Class.—All students went through a course of equitation.
A riding competition was held at the end of the session, at which 6 students
secured prizes.

15.     Other Trainings.—The students of first and second sessions of the
Department of Public Health Class numbering 60 were trained in the diseases
of animals transmissible to human beings.

A course of lectures and demonstration of infective diseases of animals
was delivered to 34 students under training as Sanitary Inspectors.

Ten Veterinary Assistants from Assam went through a post-graduate
training for two months.

Two transport drivers from the 28th Brigade Supply Section, Rangoon,
were trained as veterinary dressers.

One man from the Bengal Bodyguard was trained in the art of horse-
shoeing.

16.     Library and Museums.—Several additions were made to the
Library and Museum during the year.

17.   Sports.—Mr. Saiyid Sultan Ahmed, one of the lecturers of this
College, was the Honorary Secretary to the College Sporting Club during the
year.

Rupees one hundred and sixty were raised by subscription from the
students and an equivalent sum was contributed by Government.

Football, cricket and tennis were regularly played by the students on
the College play-ground.

The students entered the Elliot Shield competition.

They also took full advantage of the new gymnasium at the College.

                                Treatment of Disease.

18. During the year under report, 2,097 patients were treated and 460
operations performed against 2,447 and 663, respectively, during the corre-
sponding period of last year.
