16.     The awards of district board stipends in Bengal compare very
unfavourably with those of other provinces. The boards were
frequently requested to consider this matter seriously and to increase
the number of stipendiaries, and also of the Veterinary Assistant
Surgeons they employ. I would, therefore, again invite the attention
of the Hon'ble Minister to this matter of employment in the districts, of
the men who qualify, as upon their employment directly depends their
desire to enter the College or the profession. So far as Bengal is
concerned, any sudden demand for the services of Veterinary Assistant
Surgeons will, in a few years, be without response, so few men (Bengalis)
are entering the profession. At the moment there is indeed no such
demand, but can one vouch for the permanency of the present state of
affairs in any sphere?

17.     The Lecturers in addition to their ordinary duties delivered the
following lectures : —

18.     Vocational course.—Two ex-soldiers attended the Vocational
Course from Fort William, Calcutta, during the session.

19.    Sanitary Inspector's Training Class.—Two courses were held
during the year and lectures and demonstrations on Infectious Diseases
of Animals were given to such students.

20.     Museum.—Maulvi M. Jamsheduddin, g.b.v.c, was in charge
of this section.

21.     During the year under report the museum was greatly enhanced
with new pathological specimens, morbid materials, skeletons, models
and charts.

22.     Most of the pathological and parasitological specimens were
collected in this College. The skeleton of a horse, of a mule and of a
dog, were prepared by the Assistant Lecturer in Anatomy, and added
to the museum collection for practical demonstration to the students.

23.     Several important foreign models were added this year to the
existing ones, for purposes of facilitating the teaching in Anatomy and
Physiology and other classes.

24.     Various specimens, models and charts were in frequent use by
the Civil Veterinary Department at different exhibitions and on the
demonstration train, and of course they were constantly in use in the
classes throughout the year.

25.     At the request of the Director of Public Health some specimens
were supplied for demonstration to the students of the Sanitary
Inspectors' Class.
